Application Area
The thermoplastic applicator applies a thermoplastic material to
rectangular glass panes within a production line for solar modules.
The material forms a seal with a second glass pane, which is applied in a later
process step.
The panes are fed in, processed, and removed on horizontally running
belts/conveyors.
The thermoplastic applicator is a highly sophisticated machine that must meet many
requirements with great precision. For this reason, you should only process raw materials (glass, sealant) that meet the specifications on
the following pages. This helps to achieve high-quality and safe
production.

Requirements for the drums for the sealant
Design:
Material container D18 according to DIN 6644 – with base (F1)
and smooth outer surface (body design, smooth).
Capacity: 216 liters

Glass panes with a smooth surface (float glass) can be processed.

Thermoplastic materials based on poly-isobutylene (butyl) can be processed.
The material must be flowable in the range of approximately 110°C to 130°C and exhibit a defined
viscosity profile.
Use only materials that have proven themselves in practice and that have been approved by the
manufacturers of these materials and by Bystronic for the intended use.

disposal of the material used can be found in the information sheets
and safety data sheets, which the manufacturers of the materials will gladly provide.
