This gear reducer was installed on a freight train cable shunting system.
However, this shunting system was never used.
The gear reducer was stored dry in a winch house.

The gear reducer series includes two-, three-, and four-stage gear reducers with hardened gears. The shafts are mounted in roller bearings. Splash lubrication is used. Spur gears and shafts are positively connected by means of keyways. The external dimensions of the housing of a particular design size are the same for two-, three-, and four-stage versions. In the four-stage version, the drive shaft is located below the parting plane. The housing is generally made of cast iron. The gear reducers can be operated in both directions of rotation.
